The
Linacre Centre
The Linacre Centre exists to promote understanding
of Catholic teaching on abortion, assisted conception,

genetic engineering and other issues in biomedical
ethics. Much of the Church’s teaching on
these topics coincides with what was once widely
recognised as the tradition of common morality
which is the moral basis of just legislation and
the fundamental ethical framework for the practice
of medicine. |

The
Bioethics Committee of the Irish Bishops' Conference
The
intention in establishing the bioethics committee
was that it would contribute to the development
and understanding of an ethos, consistent with
the values of the Gospel, in relation to issues
of healthcare and bio-medical research. |
